It took a bit of time for the rain to pass, but mid-July and early August have finally started to feel like summer.
Blue skies, festivals and portraits seem to take up most of my time lately. Usually when I get an assignment, before anything else I check out the archives.
Each time I do this I am reminded of what a privilege it is to work with such a creative and technical staff. It’s amazing to see such consistently, good work, even for the dullest of assignments. It keeps me motivated to try new things, set up lights and to make photos along the way and in between (usually with my iPhone 5).
Here is a mix of photos shot on assignment, as well as iPhone photos that have ran through Instagram. You’ll notice the quality of the iPhone photos is pretty low-grade as I downloaded them from my Facebook (I don’t recommend this, save the original files) but that is beside the point. As many interns before me have said, “make photos for the paper AND make photos for you.” Most of these iPhone photos I shot for myself, and the DSLR photos for the paper, though I think every photo is part of the overall growing process.
