The Great Columbus Duck Race & Run

August 31, 2015

The Great Columbus Duck Race & Run took place on Saturday, August 29, 2015 in Gahanna. The event featured a 5k, 10k and kids run followed by nearly 9,300 rubber ducks racing down Big Walnut Creek behind Gahanna's Creekside Plaza. At $5 a duck, a nice haul for the Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital was made.

Duck Race:

Nearly 9,300 rubber ducks, purchased at $5 per duck, wait to be shot into the creek at the Fourth annual Great Columbus Duck Race & Run behind Creekside Plaza on Mill Street in Gahanna on Saturday, August 29, 2015. All proceeds from the event benefit pediatric research at the Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Volunteers search for a few last minute duck purchases to add to the bunch.

Joey Noon, 14, of Newark helps add a few last minute ducks to the collection in his dad's stone-spreading truck before they are shot into the creek.

The ducks are shot into the river.

The crowd waits as the ducks make their way down the creek.

Real ducks try to join in on the rubber duck race.

The crowd watches as the ducks near the finish line.

Scott Davis of The City of Columbus Environmental Management System (EMS) watches as the winning rubber ducks are picked.

Doug Graf of The City of Columbus Environmental Management System (EMS) floats with the ducks at the finish line.

Volunteers from The Ohio State Men's Swimming team help catch and pack up the ducks from the race.
